How do I know if I have a great business logo?
Between social media, TV, signs and banners, we have all seen thousands of logos and images, but let’s face it, not all of them are great.
There are some poorly designed logos, some logos that are just ok, and then there are some that are great!
The great logos stand out and remain memorable to customers while representing you and your business.
If you have a small business and are now wondering if your logo is great, this is the perfect place to start!
“The average person encounters between 6,000 and 10,000 ads and images every single day.”
How the #%!& is anyone going to remember yours?
Check out the list of reasons that make a logo great and see if your logo is simply good, or if it is GREAT!
Simple
Some of the most successful and impactful logos are the simplest. Think of Nike’s swoosh and Apple’s apple. These logos are memorable and easily recognizable which can be attributed to simplicity.
A great logo does not need to be complicated. In fact, complicated logo designs are hard for people to remember most of the time and can cause consumers to scroll past your business if the design is confusing or overwhelming.
A simple design can effectively and successfully portray your business’ purpose and personality. It allows the focus to be on what is important to you and your brand, rather than complicated designs and lots of colors and words.
Keeping your design simple and clean will help customers remember your logo!
Relevant
A great logo accurately represents your brand’s identity. You don’t want your logo to be random words, colors, or images that are not relevant to your small business or its customers.
When evaluating if your logo is good, bad or great, you want to make sure it conveys the message you want and that the colors and words are relevant to your business. For instance, if you run a daycare, you may want bright colors to communicate fun, happiness and excitement.
When it comes to words or letters, you want to keep them relevant to the name of your company, but also not too many. For example, if your business is called Green Solutions for Today, you may want to shorten that to Green Solutions for the logo. Using an abbreviation may be helpful here too! Remember, you want it to be relevant to your business without being complicated.
Memorable
It takes customers about 5-7 impressions of a logo before they remember it. This means that it’s important to design a logo that is easily recognizable and memorable.
Coca Cola attributes 65% of its revenue to the power of the brand and logo. Their brand identity and logo are so recognizable that they can shorten their sale cycle and expedite the number of sales.
As stated before, the simpler and cleaner the design, the easier it is for the customer to remember it. This is important because when customers remember your logo, they are more likely to have a connection to your company, thus purchase your goods and services.
Unique
All great logos are unique. They stand out from the competition and come to people’s minds when they think of the products or services you offer. When checking to see if you have a great logo, it is important to do research. Look at similar companies and small businesses to make sure your logo stands out.
Are your colors and fonts unique to your brand? This can help build brand identity and will allow your logo to stand out from others.
Versatile
A great logo can be resized, printed, and used on various communication platforms. If your logo cannot do these things, it may adversely or negatively impact your sales while making you seem unprofessional. No one wants to see a grainy or burry logo because it did not resize properly!
Even if you have an amazing logo design, it can become illegible or unrecognizable when you shrink it for packaging and social media icons, and blurry when you blow it up for a poster or a website heading.
A great logo is versatile and can save you lots of time and money.
At the end of the day, a great logo will bring success to your business while saving you time and money. If you need help creating your own GREAT logo, we can help you here!
