5 SEO Must-Haves to Rank #1 on Google

Rank #1 on Google with SEOHow can I get my business to rank #1 on all search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing?

This is probably one of the most important questions you’ll ask yourself when it comes to reaching the most customers for your business.

This is your lucky day, because we have an answer for you!

93% of online experiences begin with a search engine, making SEO crucial for business visibility and customer lead generation.

So you’ve invested all that time and money into building your website, what does this matter if no one can find it? According to Google, one in six people on the planet use Google to do more than 1 trillion searches each year. Imagine having a piece of that pie!

This means your next investment should be in SEO (search engine optimization). This is essential for maximizing ROI for your website and bringing traffic to your business.

SEO is like a puzzle whereas many pieces need to come together in order to see a finished product. It can be a long, tedious process, however we can help you jumpstart that process with the following invaluable information.

5 most important SEO must-haves for you to reach #1 on Google:

1. KEYWORDS

Keywords appear within your content on the front-end of your website, as well as on the back-end in your title tags and meta-descriptions.

The first step is determining what your keywords should be. The more refined they are, the better. Stay away from broad-based terms. Identify the best niche keywords and phrases that people may use to search for your product and/or service. And, be sure to incorporate your geographical location (i.e. Small Business Marketing Firm, Westchester County, NY).

Once you’ve nailed down your long-tail keywords, it’s time to implement them. How and where you incorporate these into your content and tags is very important. Search engines view keywords as valuable content when they are bold, italicized, bulleted, underlined, in headers, etc. Stuffing your pages with keywords does not work. Instead, place them in headings, first sentences, links, etc.

2. BLOGGING

Content is always king, right? High quality content and frequent updates ensure that Google, and other search engines, will rank you favorably. What better place to continually update website content than on your blog. Companies that blog have 434% more indexed pages than those that do not.

Not only does blogging help your SEO, but it also shows that you’re an expert in your field. Your blog is also a great place to include outbound links and internal links to other content within your site, just another vital component when it comes to SEO.

3. GOOGLE SEARCH CONSOLE

Good news…Google Search Console is free! With this service, you’ll learn a lot about your website performance. But most importantly, it also detects errors that you probably never knew about.

First, you must sync your website with Google Search Console and verify it. Once you’ve done this, you can now go through and fix the all the issues. You can also add a sitemap and a robots.tx file, both of which are essential to Google indexing your website properly.

4. GOOGLE MY BUSINESS

No need for further explanation here…it’s all in the name “Google.” Formerly known as Google Places, Google My Business directly connects your customers to your business on a local level.

First you need to verify your business. Once this is done, you can update your listing with your company contact information, hours, services, photos, etc. This information will now be visible in search results and on the map.

In order for your map ranking to appear front and center, you must have reviews. At least five reviews are needed to receive a star rating. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your customers and ask for a review. Make it easy for them and give them instructions on how to do it.

Great! Not only is your business appearing prominently on the map results, but you’ve also gained valuable insight into how customers feel about your business.

5. CITATIONS / ONLINE DIRECTORIES

It’s all about NAP…and no I don’t mean that wonderful thing that we long for in the middle of the day. NAP stands for Name, Address and Phone. It’s imperative that this information is accurate and consistent across all online directories such as Yellow Pages, Yelp, Better Business Bureau, Angie’s List, etc. For example, “Exceller Marketing, Inc.” vs “Exceller Marketing,” pick one version and stick with it everywhere. And of course, wherever you’re not listed, be sure to add your business.

Other than the all-important social media, this is just another easy way to get your business plastered across the world wide web and advance your search engine rankings. Search is the #1 driver of traffic to content sites, beating social media by more than 300%.

AND MORE…

Last and certainly not least, in addition to these vital steps, make certain your website is mobile-friendly!

I agree blogging is probably the most important activity in driving traffic and “sticking your head out”. Social media can sometimes help, too. I guess it depends on whether your target audience uses social media and which platform in particular.
Face-to-face exposure, in my opinion, is still the most effective way to win customers

Thanks for your feedback Savas. Business does boil down to relationships. SEO and marketing exposure is the ideal way to engage that first touch and lead generation, so that you’ll have an opportunity to build a face-to-face relationship.
